Other Aspects of the Photograph Collection.

Postcard collection

Hundreds of original postcards, in preservation albums, ranging from the Holland-class of the very early 1900's to the A-class submarines of the late 1940's. Also held are Memorial postcards dedicated to the men lost in submarines and images of the submarines of foreign navies.

Negatives

The relevant database has over 12,500 entries and there are still thousands more to be catalogued.

Glass Plate Negatives

Over 350 Glass Plate Negatives depicting such subjects as Holland-class submarines, construction photographs of H-class submarines in Canada and WWII vintage submarines.

Lantern Slides

Ranging from coloured drawings of a 'Tot Issue' to submarine C35 leaving harbour.

Preserving and cataloguing

The RN Submarine Museum is committed to an ongoing photograph preservation policy. All photographs are, or are in the process of being, housed in archival quality acid-free sleeves, within archival quality albums. Scanning and cataloguing of the collection is ongoing.
