“My grandson loved it" Family Visitor Comment 2011

The Royal Navy Submarine Museum is a registered family friendly museum where the whole family can dive into history and discover the past first hand from our ex-submariners and go onboard an actual WW2 era submarine – HMS Alliance.

There are lots for families to see and do!
  • Go onboard a real WW2 submarine - HMS Alliance with a submariner to hear his stories about living beneath the waves.
  • Peer into the only surviving midget submarine to have seen action during WW2
  • Step inside the Royal Navy’s first submarine Holland 1 that is over 100years old.
  • Opening Easter 2012, join Sammy Sardine in the Horrible Science of Submarines exhibition
  • Dive deeper into our history galleries and discover the “derring do” of the nation’s Victoria Cross heroic submariners.
  • Feel the force! Keep a submarine buoyant, fight the enemy and play in the interactive science gallery.

Check out our family events throughout the year and remember most school holidays there will be extra family activities and things to do which are free with a standard museum ticket.
